Within the many parts and systems that make up your vehicle, you'll find constant velocity axle (CV axle). The CV axle is part of what's known as the drivetrain, a term for parts that play a role in transferring power from the transmission to the wheels. In other words, the CV axle and other drivetrain parts play an important role in driving your vehicle forward.
The CV axle helps transfer torque to the drive wheels. At both ends of the axle, you'll find a CV joint covered by a rubber boot called the CV gaiter. The CV axle and joints are important for delivering consistent power when you make a turn. CV gaiters are important for protecting their respective joint. An inspection of the axle and its end parts is recommended as part of regular maintenance.
